Spring is fast approaching, bringing with it warmer weather and the tastiest holiday of all: Easter. It pays to be prepared at this time of year — sunny days mean freezer treats will be in-demand, and you never know when that first scorcher is going to be! Not to mention, the long Easter weekend will have people stockpiling desserts and ice creams to keep their guests supplied with sweets. Here’s our guide to what you should be buying in for the new season.
Many of your customers will be hosting family over Easter weekend, and all great roast dinners should be followed by a delicious dessert, so make sure you have plenty to choose from! A slice of cheesecake never fails to please, and this one from Coppenrath & Wiese is completed with a whirl of raspberry sauce for a kick of fruity tang. Easter wouldn’t be Easter without some chocolatey choices — a rich gateau is as much a beautiful centrepiece as it is a yummy pud, fudge cake is a slice of pure gooey indulgence, and chocolate ice cream will keep any little ones happy. (While we’re on the subject of big dinners, make sure you’re well-stocked with Yorkshires and roasties for the weekend, too!)
Scooping Ice Cream
People will be queuing out the doors of seaside ice cream parlours at the first hint of sun, so make sure you’re prepared! You can’t go wrong with a traditional vanilla scoop; pick up a creamy option from Mackie’s of Scotland, Kelly’s or Beechdean farms. Carte D’or raspberry ripple and Beechdean Eton mess are streaked with syrupy swirls, for those who’ve always loved their frozen treats drizzled with berry-flavoured sauces. Tubs littered with brownie chunks are a chocoholic’s heaven, while jelly and ice cream, blue candyfloss and birthday cake are among the colourful, sprinkle-laden flavours kids will adore. Marshfield has you covered for any vegan visitors, too, with plant-based versions of classic vanilla, strawberry and mint choc chip.
Ice Cream Van Classics
Nothing says childhood nostalgia quite like impulse-buying a frozen treat on a sunny day, so make sure you’re stocked up on lollies and ices in time for the first heatwave of the year. We have Cornettos for lovers of a classic scoop in a cone — Soft varieties have the fluffy whipped texture of soft serve, while packs of strawberry and mint are for fans of more adventurous dairy flavours. Nobbly Bobbly and Feast lollies are chocolatey options with plenty of fun crunchy bits, and we’ve got all your old-school fruity favourites covered with Calippos, Soleros and Twisters. And don’t forget to top up your slush cups and syrup — few treats are more refreshing (and tongue-staining!) when the weather gets warm.
